Warm, solid wood is paired with flexible, colorful webbing, allowing the contrast between the two materials to become a defining feature of the design. The webbing connects and supports the wooden frame, enhancing structural stability while adding a playful visual character through its varied colors and textures.
Users can select from different webbing color combinations to personalize the stool, creating distinct expressions within the same structure. By revealing both the inherent qualities and structural functions of the materials as integral design elements, the project explores new possibilities for functional furniture that reflects individual preferences while adding character to a space.
파운드파운디드는 DDP디자인페어의 디자이너와 소상공인을 연결하는 협업 프로젝트에 참여하여, 가구 브랜드 그라운닷과 함께 스툴을 개발하였다. 기존 목재 가구에 새로운 감각을 더하고자 목재와 웨빙이라는 서로 다른 물성의 소재를 결합해, 기능과 조형이 자연스럽게 어우러지는 가구를 제안하였다.
따뜻하고 단단한 목재에 유연하고 다채로운 웨빙을 결합하여, 두 소재의 대비 자체가 제품의 조형적 특징이 되도록 하였다. 웨빙은 목재 프레임을 연결하고 지지해 구조적 안정성을 높이는 동시에, 다양한 컬러와 질감을 통해 제품에 경쾌한 인상을 더한다.
사용자는 다양한 웨빙 컬러를 조합해 자신만의 스툴을 구성할 수 있으며, 동일한 구조에서도 서로 다른 분위기를 연출할 수 있다. 소재의 물성과 구조적 기능을 디자인 요소로 적극적으로 드러냄으로써, 실용적인 가구에 사용자의 취향과 공간의 개성을 더할 수 있는 새로운 가능성을 제안하였다.
