The Ottchil Craft Box, the second theme of SeMoCA’s K-Craft Art Box series, is a mobile archive designed to embody the museum’s core values of sustainability, accessibility, and adaptability. It preserves accumulated craft records while remaining capable of traveling to various locations, creating opportunities for broader public engagement.
To support the scalability of the project, we developed a new visual identity for the K-Craft Art Box and carried out the integrated design of the Ottchil Craft Box, including its structure, interior and exterior design, and exhibition content.
The Craft Box can be freely unfolded and configured according to different exhibition environments, allowing for a variety of display formats within open spaces. Visitors can directly explore the samples and content contained within the box, experiencing craft materials, techniques, and the stories behind them in an intuitive and engaging way.
Designed to be as approachable as picking up a book in a bookstore, the Ottchil Craft Box integrates the functions of exhibition, archive, and mobility into a single platform. Through this approach, it delivers craft content in a more flexible and accessible manner, functioning as an exhibition platform that enables meaningful interaction between craft and its audience.

서울공예박물관 한국공예상자의 두 번째 테마인 ‘옻칠공예상자’는 박물관의 핵심 가치인 지속성, 접근성, 가변성을 담아낸 이동형 아카이브 상자이다. 오랜 시간 축적된 공예 기록을 보존하는 동시에, 다양한 장소로 이동하며 관객과 만날 수 있도록 설계되었다.
우리는 프로젝트의 확장성을 고려하여 한국공예상자의 MI를 새롭게 디자인하고, 옻칠공예상자의 구조 및 내·외부 디자인, 콘텐츠 디자인까지 통합적으로 진행하였다.
공예상자는 전시 환경에 따라 자유롭게 펼치고 구성할 수 있어, 열린 공간에서 다양한 형태의 전시 경험을 제공한다. 관람객은 상자 속 표본과 콘텐츠를 직접 보고 탐색하며, 공예 재료와 기법, 그리고 그 안에 담긴 이야기를 보다 직관적으로 경험할 수 있다.
누구나 서점에서 책을 꺼내 읽듯 자연스럽게 접근할 수 있도록 구성된 옻칠공예상자는 전시와 아카이브, 이동의 기능을 하나로 통합하였다. 이를 통해 공예 콘텐츠를 보다 유연하게 전달하고, 다양한 공간에서 관객과 소통할 수 있는 전시 플랫폼으로 기능한다.
